ABOUT OUR Executive Chef, Jacob Hardy

Funky may not be a word most people associate with cooking, but for Jacob Hardy that’s where his love of preparing food began. As a young boy growing up in the red rocks of Southern Utah, Jacob started cooking all sorts of things for his family. Eggs for breakfast may have been near the beginning. Jacob’s eggs would include “funky” ingredients to experiment with different combinations and flavors. His family loved it and encouraged him to try more.

“More” eventually landed Jacob in the Dixie Tech Culinary program. While learning and honing his skills, Jacob discovered an important lesson of life and food. We don’t just taste food, we experience it through five senses — sight, touch, hearing, smelling, and tasting. Imagine hearing the sizzle of bacon, the aroma of ethnic spices, the feel of a summer peach on your cheek, the vivid colors of fruits and vegetables, and finally the explosion of flavor when we eat good food. For Jacob, only focusing on one sense of the food experience is, well, bland.

We’re thrilled to have Jacob be part of the Ridgeview team. We love having him stimulate all five senses for our residents so that people can enjoy and be excited to eat!
